Young Singers in Harmony
Young Singers in Harmony New Zealand is a non-profit organisation with the goal of encouraging and educating young people in barbershop a cappella singing. It was formed in the early 1990’s by Les Nation and has since grown to be one of the most successful a cappella competitions in the world.
Our competition sees 600-700 students come together for two days of spectacular barbershop singing and performance. Three categories are contained within YSIH – Young Men in Harmony, Young Women in Harmony and the newly introduced Mixed category. Hundreds of students from secondary schools across New Zealand compete at a regional level each year, with the top choruses and quartets qualifying to compete in the annual national finals competition.
